To

Members of the Core Group of NGOs

Madams/Sir,

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has decided to organise  Open Hearings on Atrocities on Scheduled Castes  in the country and  the  first such  open hearing will be held at Puri, Odisha at 10.00 A.M on 9th April, 2012.  During this hearing, the Commission will hear the grievances of aggrieved parties  and the problems being faced  by them seeking  justice from Govt.  agencies..

2.         The Commission also proposes to hold a meeting with Non-Government Organisations /Human Rights Bodies/Civil Society working for the upliftment of the Scheduled Castes in the State  at Bhubaneswar at 4.00 P.M on 9th  April, 2012, enabling them to apprise  the Commission of difficulties faced by them in taking up their complaints.  Besides, the Commission proposes to hold discussions with the Chief Secretary, DGP and senior civil and police officers as it would provide an opportunity to impress them to sensitise the authorities responsible for enforcement of law and  implementation of various welfare schemes for SCs in sustaining confidence of victims in the State.  A briefing for media persons is also proposed to be held at Bhubaneswar at 4.30 P.M. on 12.04.2012.

This is for your  kind information.

Yours faithfully,
