Realization of solidarity in Honour Ceremony


After hearing his testimony Abdul Rahman started crying and the eyes of the people presented in the hall become wet and they became unvoiced. Few people initiated to economically support for his operation.

 

The honor ceremony for the survivor of police torture and bonded labour was organized on 14th August, 2010 in Madarsa Usmania in front of police chowki, Bazardiha (weaver's colony) in Varanasi. The program started at 11:30 with the recitation of Aayat (versus) of Holy book Quran by the priest of the Madarsa and prayed for the salvation of the two martyr of police firing[i]. The participation of people from different religion belief provided moral support to all the primary and secondary survivor of the police firing.

 

The testimony of the five survivors was read to the public and the survivors were honored with the testimony and traditional white shawl. The name of the survivors is Mr. Abdul Rahman, Mr. Wasim Akram, Mr. Anup Chaubey, Mr. Ram Dayal[ii] and Mohd. Jahid Ansari

 

Among the victims were two youth Abdul Rahman and Vasim Akram were natives of Bazardiha locality, who had been injured in police firing in the locality during Holi festival on March 11, 2009. Both of them skilled weavers till the day they were injured.

 

Anup Kumar Chaubey, a native of Chaubeypur is a victim of Kacheri bomb blast of 23 November, 2007. He worked as a munshi of the lawyer. He received a compensation of 50,000 Rupees from the state government. However he is yet to get any financial assistance from the centre.

 

The other persons including Mohammed Zahid Ansari alias Mangru of Phulpur was victims of alleged police torture and Ram Dayal Mushar of Sarai village was harassed by his master.

 

The basic objective behind organizing this honor ceremony was to instill confidence among the survivors and motivates them to fight for justice. They raised their voice and demanded justice.

 

The program ended by giving vote of thanks by the secretary of Madarsa Kari Mohd. Mustaq.
