Fighter for the rights of the untouchables

Today/Tomorrow, 14 April 2008, the father of the Indian constitution and fighter for the rights of the untouchables (Dalits) would have turned 117. On the occasion of that birthday the Varanasi based People's Vigilance Committee on Human Rights (PVCHR) launched the Ambedkar Online Memorial. With this project the PVCHR would like to put attention on the situation of the Dalits in contemporary India. Part of the Online Memorial is a collection of Photos taken by children from a Dalit village in Varanasi.

Responsible for the technical implementation as well as for the German and English version of the project is our German intern Frank Hoffmann. The Korean version was created by our Korean intern Jeon Chul Min. The Hindi version was created by Karmanya Kumar and Raj Kumar Dubey.
